Duncan Moore grew up in Des Moines, Iowa and began drum studies at the age of 8. After years of school bands and orchestras, as well as gigs with various rock bands, Duncan moved to Iowa City, majoring in music at the University of Iowa. There, he studied percussion with Tom Davis, and played with local groups until moving to San Diego in 1977.
