My gig calendar is shaping up for the new year, and I am thankful for the opportunity to work with so many great players in the SoCal area.
I look forward to a number of gigs this year with Peter Sprague, Mike Wofford, Mikan Zlatkovich, Joshua White, Gilbert Castellanos, David Borgo, Mike Garson and many others. How lucky am I?
Peter Sprague has finished mixing the new String Consort CD which we recorded in 2012, and he will be releasing it soon. It is always great fun to be involved with that project! I also look forward to hearing the tracks from Anthony Smith’s new CD which we recorded (also in 2012) with Mike Wofford and Rob Thorsen.
It seems to me that there is a renewed energy in the SD jazz scene as of late. Gilbert Castellanos has a new home for his weekly jam session at 7 Grand in North Park, and Chuck Perrin has moved into a new place in PB which shows a lot of promise as a great concert venue! Other jam sessions are continuing as well, such as Bob Daniel’s Thursday evening at Haritna restaurant. Mike Wofford and Holly Hofmann will be playing 2 Tuesdays a month at Croce’s, and Gilbert continues his Thursday nights there. It’s nice to see so much good music happening all over town!
I am enjoying my teaching schedule as well, and am lucky to have so many talented and motivated students ranging from the age of 14 to 65!
Thanks again for your support, and I hope to see many of you in 2013!
